At a meeting of band members and committee on 14th April, a conclusion was reached that there was no alternative other than to wind up the Timperley Band after honouring a final engagement on Friday 23 April.

Gary Winson, Band Chairman explained "Due to various circumstances, twelve months back the band lost a group of players, the remaining members were determined to stick it out in an effort to rebuild the band. All involved have been absolutely clear since then, every avenue and opportunity would be explored to give the band a future in very difficult circumstances."

Timperley has been significantly affected by issues that many other bands are struggling with namely the lack of available players to maintain playing standard, work / life / band balance to commit time and play regularly.

The good times along the way will never be forgotten. Between 2006 & 2008 the band established itself firmly in the North West Championship section winning many honours.

The good times along the way will never be forgotten. Between 2006 & 2008 the band established itself firmly in the North West Championship section winning many honours. There is no doubt if the banding climate was different, with Timperley''s support structure, the band would have been firmly established as a Championship section standard band for many years.

Gary added he would particularly like to thank all conductors, players and other bands who have had an involvement with Timperley since it reformed in 2005, there is still much goodwill and kindness in the movement and long may that continue for the bands that remain in these challenging times.

Regarding the bands property, Gary explained to 4barsrest.com, "The bands constitution requires that available instruments and equipment are distributed to other registered charities. We would like to hear from other bands in the North West who wish to register their interest to be considered potentially to receive Timperley property by emailing Gary at gary.xm603@sky.com quoting their charity registration number.
